WHO IS THIS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE FOR?

Anyone can learn to do Massage, as in the UK Massage is currently not a regulated profession. The course structure facilitates learning the safety and efficacy of the treatments administered, including the red flags which would require further referral.

There is no embargo on learning in the UK, which is why there are no formal pre-requisites to do the course. However, should a student not demonstrate the highest levels of safety and operate within the appropriate ethical boundaries, the learning can be terminated without refund of the remainder of the course material.

You may be asked to attend some prerequisite anatomy and pathology seminars (which we provide) if your current skill/ knowledge set is lacking in these areas. Soft tissue therapies are seen as safe and low risk by insurance companies, which is a direct result of the amount of claims made, compared to the amount of people insured to deliver those soft tissue techniques. There are other, more invasive and painful variations on this soft tissue work which have not been imbedded with the current bio-psycho-social pain model, a model which research shows to be the most complete way to heal those suffering dysfunction.

In order to administer these soft tissue techniques, you will need to be insured with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance (up to £5mil). So, once you have graduated the course/s, you will need to attain insurance for “Massage, Myofascial Therapy and Manipulative Therapy” before you can touch someone. We are partnered with a leading medical malpractice insurer, Westminster Indemnity- who you can gain insurance through once you have completed the course. Once certificated, you will be issued a link which will take you to the relevant places to gain the relevant insurance categories.

WHO DELIVERS THE COURSE?

The Vocal Massage and Advanced Vocal Massage courses are delivered by Voice Specialist Massage Therapists, Vocal Osteopaths and Voice Specialist Speech Therapists. This blended learning experience means that you come away not only knowing and understanding techniques, but also different professional view points and philosophies.

VOCAL MASSAGE TRAINING UK also regularly hosts a number of international experts in the field of manual therapy for Head, Neck, Voice and Swallowing conditions/disorders, further spreading the work and knowledge of these powerful forms of massage therapy.

COMING FROM OVERSEAS?

If you are travelling from outside of the UK, you need to determine the appropriate legalities of doing this course with insurance in your state/province.

Nobody holds the legal rights to massage, Myofascial Release, manipulation or manipulative techniques. Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Doctors, and Manual Therapists who use these techniques are not the sole guardians of this style of therapy, as these techniques have been around for thousands of years. (Even Hippocrates, the founding father of Medicine around 460-355 B.C, wrote about setting joints by leverage and details the use of manipulation).
